About Dr. Suzi

Consultant, Leader, and Coach

I’ve always had a passion for helping others and an entrepreneurial spirit. Both led me to choose a varied career solely in the healthcare industry during the last four+ decades. My vast experience as a clinical nurse, nursing supervisor, operations improvement coordinator, nurse executive, healthcare consultant, leadership educator, and business author have led me to the present – solving the most challenging problems in healthcare organizations with a focus on health and well-being.

Education

Each of my formal educational endeavors include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, (BSN);
  • Master of Business, (MBA);
  • Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership, (DNP);
  • Black Belt Lean Six Sigma, (BBLSS);
  • Certified Emergency Nurse, (CEN);
  • Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, (INHC);
  • Certified Health Coach, (CHC);

Developing An Expert Approach

My doctoral research focused on stress, fatigue and burnout. This resulted in the development of a novel concept and measurement instrument (a survey) for Leadership Fatigue™. I’ve defined it as the following:

LEADERSHIP FATIGUE™:  Mental, physical and/or emotional fatigue resulting from prolonged stress, due to uncontrollable forces in the work environment secondary to a leadership role, causing insidious consequences to one’s performance, overall health and work-life balance.

Learning to leverage the upside of life’s stressors can combat its potentially negative effects. Building hardiness can result in renewed resilience, improved health and ultimately better overall well-being. As a nurse and a leader, my goal is to promote health and healing for a transformed “you”! Ready for me to be your Doctor of Well-Being?

Things that make me happy

Waking up without an alarm!

A good cup of coffee.

Spending time outdoors.

Cooking wholesome food in my own kitchen!

Time to “unfold” in the morning upon waking.

Spending time with friends and family!

Shopping….with a list!

Getting enough sleep.

Being able to get the “right type” and amount of exercise.

Doing or learning new things!

Enjoying a nice meal with good wine.

Being home more than not!

Now and then it’s good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy.
